Meet The Staff

Meet Dr. Evison

Jason was born and raised in northern Michigan. He attended Michigan State University and received a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Economics in 2000. In 2007 Dr. Evison received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. After 3 years with Ketchikan Indian Community Tribal Dental Clinic, Dr. Evison took over Dr. Thomas Nordvedt’s practice in Ketchikan.

Professionally, Dr. Evison is involved in the American Dental Association, Alaska Dental Society as well as Southeast District Dental Society.

In his free time, Dr. Evison enjoys spending time with his wife, Christy and five children; Soren, Richard, Isaac, Lydia and Jude. Most days when not in the dental office, you’ll find Dr. Evison on the soccer pitch either coaching or cheering on one of our local teams.

Meet Dr. Taylor

Ron grew up in Las Vegas, but has called Ketchikan home for over 14 years.  Currently, he works for the Indian Health Service in Metlakatla.  Ron received his Bachelor of Arts from BYU in Utah and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Colorado in 1998.  Since then he has practiced in Las Vegas, Ketchikan and Metlakatla.

On a part-time basis he collaborates with Lindsay and Jason on our implant program.  Ron has six children and one grandchild.  He likes to travel – this picture was taken at Manchu Pichu.

Meet Lindsay

Lindsay Booth-Swaim was born and raised in Metlakatla and Ketchikan.  She has worked for Dr. Evison for 10 years.  She has received much continuing education in the areas of dental implants and endodontics (root canal treatment), making her an invaluable member of the dental team.  She and her husband and two children like to spend as much time as possible in their boat, searching for historical artifacts and places and, of course, fish.

Farewell to Sonya

Wonderful People of Ketchikan,  It has been one of my greatest pleasures getting to know you while also helping you through your journeys in obtaining optimal oral health. Your smiles warm my heart! Even though for most folks the reason for being in a dental office, is reason enough to express anything but.  I first arrived in Ketchikan the summer season of 2007, as a kayak guide with Southeast Sea Kayaks. It was love at first sight! Ketchikan has a way of luring outsiders here, with incredibly kind folks, postcard-perfect beauty, and room to explore internally one’s self/externally the natural bounty all around us. I’ve spent four seasons here working in the tourist industry, two with Southeast Sea Kayaks, and two with Misty Fjords Air & Outfitting. It was becoming more apparent to me that I wanted to be here year-round, and not just seasonally. Just before getting settled in Ketchikan, I did take up a dental assistant job in Homer, AK via Seldovia Village Tribe. I got to experience mainland Alaska. I must say, each State in the USA has its own unique beauty, but Alaska will always win the Beauty Pageant! I knew my dental experiences were key to my being able to afford existing here, and Jason Evison DDS and staff took me on as part of their team. They have become my extended family. I have witnessed their little babies and children grow, along with our personal growths together, enduring both good and bad times. Ten Years!! It’s the longest I’ve ever stayed put anywhere! As some of you may already know, I come from a very large and loving family. When the Pandemic came, I was overcome with the thought that I may never see or be with my immediate family members again. So it is with a bittersweet heart that I say farewell to the loving friends and families of this wonderful community, that I dearly love, to reunite with the family of my beginning. A new chapter, a new adventure awaits.

Thank you all for your kindness, for making and sharing wonderfully amazing memories with me.

Meet Mandy

Mandy Newell was born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska and loves this rainy island in Southeast Alaska that she calls home. Mandy grew up as a patient in this very dental office, and is proud to now be a provider for her community that she grew up in.  Mandy enjoys caring for her patient’s smiles, keeping them confident and healthy.

Mandy was first inspired to pursue dental hygiene during her high school years, after enrolling in a medical science high school course, allowing her to job shadow the field she was interested in. Upon high school graduation in 2011, Mandy began employment for Dr. Evison. This allowed early exposure to dental terminology and equipment, as well as dental workflow and processes. This experience further clarified her passion and love for dentistry. She attended University of Alaska Anchorage from 2011-2015 and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene. Her favorite part of the job is building a positive rapport with her patients.  She loves catching up with clientele every four to six months, and educating them on the importance of gum health. In her free time, Mandy enjoys boating and camping with her fiancée–and quite frequently you’ll catch her walking outdoors with her sister!

Meet Ashley

Ashley Conley is a life-long Ketchikan resident.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Idaho.  When Dr. Evison started his practice 10 years ago, she was one his first employees.  After a 4 year break to stay home with her children, she returned as Dr. Evison’s office manager, where she will stay forever.  She has received much continuing education in the area of dental office administration, dental insurance billing and human resources.  She is the glue that holds our office together.

Meet Lacy

Lacy was born and raised in Oklahoma and has been with our office since May of 2018. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Biology with the intention of attending vet school. Lacy began working in the dental field after graduation and fell in love with the profession; she then attended hygiene school and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene. Lacy often compares the satisfaction of cleaning teeth to watching Doctor Pimple Popper. When she is not in the dental office, Lacy spends her time working out, baking cookies, watching Friends, hiking, or enjoying a boat ride/fishing with her dog and boyfriend!

Meet JC

JC Seludo is also a life-long Ketchikan resident.  She graduated from Ketchikan High School in 2010, where she made All-State teams in volleyball and softball.  She has a large extended family in Ketchikan, with whom she is very close – especially her many nieces and nephews.  When she’s not at Dr. Evison’s office, you can find her working customer service at Alaska Airlines.

She is very dedicated to working efficiently and quickly and always with a smile!
